Having a Twitter account with no people following is like coffee without cream — plain and boring.
Twitter is created to connect to people and you with no followers beats its purpose. Follows are part part of our virtual world. The more people following us, the more people you can interact with. However, it is not always a good day where you get followers everyday.
During dark days, you will experience how it feels like when someone unfollows you. These are realities that we can not deny. Many people especially those who use their account as a source of income spend money to buy real Twitter followers as strategy but even them lose followers once in awhile. And this leads us to the question:
Why do people follow us? And why do they unfollow us?
We get real Twitter followers if…
People find our posts interesting. In a world where sharing even our witty hang-ups is just a click away, it is a rare chance to come across a profile that talks sense. If your profile is one of them, then there is no doubt people will be interested on what you think about certain issues.
We share the same interest as theirs. If you share the same type of music and love the same actor, then there is no doubt that people who like what you like will be interested as having you even as a virtual friend. As they same, birds of the same feather flock together.
You are the ultimate source of information or gossip. Who doesn’t like the hottest information of the town? If you are the one telling them, then people would like to be friends with you so that they can be first to hear the news.
You lose followers if…
All you post is rant and rant and more rant. Let’s be honest. No one would want to follow people who posts about themselves ALL THE TIME. Those issues may be important for you but not for your virtual friends. They want what you can give them and that includes good picture (not of yourself) and juicy news.
You’re the great spammer. Have the heart and stop spamming the homes of your dear friends. If you continue doing so, you won’t be surprised if they will unfollow you faster than you can say TWEET.
You don’t connect with your followers anymore. You liked One Direction then but months later, you decided that you are their fan anymore and transferred to Taylor Swift. You post everything about Taylor Swift and it annoys your friends who you’ve met because of One direction. As a result they unfollow you. Yes they will.
Anyhow, you can’t avoid having followers and having them unfollow you for reasons that only they can understand. The good thing there is, you can always unfollow those who unfollow you. Back at them.
